Water is the most precious commodity we have on our planet, and recently it is becoming the rarest one, and people are not doing anything to start using it wisely and appropriately. Everyone is wasting many gallons monthly, and sometimes huge leaks problems cause more disasters than just wasted water. Conservation of water should be a public affair, where people responsible should raise the public awareness of how such efforts can be efficiently utilized. They are already doing a good job reaching people on such matters, but the message isn’t well-received yet. Leaking is a huge part in the wasted-water problem, and avoiding such a problem can be done easily.
Leak detection sometimes can be hardly performed, because some leaks happens very slowly, and it may take months or years to notice an effect, but some leaks cause troubles very fast and those are the types that must be detected before they happen. Some people don’t give the same attention on all kinds of leaks, as the slow leaks are far more costly that quick ones, in terms of wasted water, as small leaks can waste thousands of water gallons until people can detect them. And the most dangerous part related to slow leaks that water eats up the place foundations and structures, and it would be too late to avoid the consequences.
The question here is how to establish a successful leak detection system. The answer is very simple, install detection instruments all over the place, or just perform periodic checking procedures on places familiar to leaking. The cost may be expensive, but you have to make a trade-off, where you measure how much the detection system will cost you and how much you will lose without one; and you also have to keep in mind that water leaking will affect not only you, but almost everyone around you. Water is precious and dangerous, so start treating it right.
